Giggity. Alas, the 8-minute extended trailer for the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is embeddable.
After many initial attempts of reading this book in the past, I finally finished it in just a matter of a few days (grazie unemployment), and watched the Swedish film soon thereafter. The darkness of the story is really only justified through the novel itself, and much more than any film could ever portray. So, for that reason, I don’t think that any film adaptation of this series would be satisfactory. That said, the late author (and journalist), Stieg Larsson, would have probably dismissed the Swedish film, but I still thought it was a more-than-decent version, despite its minor inaccuracies (i.e. the scene between Blomkvist and Lisbeth when he’s in prison) and the criticisms of seemingly unnecessary provocative scenes.
I patiently await the American adaptation slated for release later this month. It stars the most current Mr. Bond (Daniel Craig) and movie-Zuckerberg’s ex (Rooney Mara). Hope it’s better than the Swedish version, and that it stays tastefully truer to the novel. The trailer doesn’t seem to disappoint.
